During the winter break, Andrew (7th grade) and Annie (6th grade) attended the 2018 US Figure Skating Championships in San Jose, CA as one of the top 12 Juvenile Pairs selected from around the nation. They skated very well and got 6th place at the national championships. Since it’s the Winter Olympic year, there’s a lot of media coverage for this year’s national championships. The senior level championships determine who would represent US in the Winter Olympics. Many Hall of Fame super stars also presented at the event. They were lucky to meet 5-time World Champion and 9-time US Champion, Michelle Kwan, face to face. The siblings also met this year’s and last year’s US Pairs Champions and Ladies Champions.

While in San Jose, Annie and Andrew, among other Juvenile level young athletes, were interviewed by Chinese American media ( After we came back to MN, their news was also reported at the largest Midwestern Chinese American website ( and will appear on MN Chinese newspaper, Minnesota Times, on full color page in the next issue (1/26/2018).

The siblings have been so encouraged and inspired to work harder as a team for the new competition season. They aim for a higher rank in nationals and hope to be able to stand on the national podium some day.

So proud of you Andrew and Annie!
