Homebase

Hello Students and Families!

During our final weeks of the school year, our Homebase focus is “Success!”  We are confident that students have spent a great deal of the school year discussing monthly themes throughout their time in Homebase classes and throughout their school days.  Many of our Homebase class discussions and activities were geared to remind students to do their best academically and socially – truly be the best they can be.   We want students to be able to identify what success they have experienced and what they are still striving for.  We are fortunate that each student brings different knowledge, backgrounds, creativity and talents to our classrooms.    We continue to set the expectation that being friendly, generous and considerate in everything that we do and say contributes to a positive school climate and culture in our school community.  Spending the time in our Homebase classroom getting to know each other and about each other has been of great benefit this school year.

It is hard to believe that the school year is coming to an end in just a month!  If you have any questions as the school year is wrapping up, please don’t hesitate to contact me staff members at any time!

Homebase (advisory) takes place everyday for the first 15 minutes of the school day.  Students are assigned to a Homebase teacher, in which they have as a teacher throughout the school year.  Research has shown that the more teachers foster relationship with their students and focus on their social and emotional needs, the more academic performance, motivation, and attendance improve. By offering an effective Homebase program, we can help improve interpersonal relationship and promote cooperation in achieving student and school goals (Association for Middle Level Education).
